Careers

The following positions are available for immediate hire:

  • Materials Engineer ( Date Posted: 06/27/2023 )
    • Manage the incoming research projects by assessing production feasibility, resource requirements, and costs. Design and develop suitable manufacturing methods based on theoretical calculations, research work, and internal production capabilities assessment. Design and perform experiments at small-scale laboratory level experiments, tests, and production with assistance from Applications team.
    • Analyze and characterize crystallography, chemical composition and physical properties of new materials using X-Ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope with Energy Dispersive X ray analysis (SEM-EDAX) - and Particle size distribution (PSD) instruments, Gas Chromatography- Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) for internal quality control and to meet client’s specifications. Record and report the results for internal records and to ensure quality according to standards.
    • Design and devise production methods for new chemicals and products. Advice and consult with production sites for suitable techniques based on research and internal specifications. Evaluate and maintain the critical path between production and application process from sales request to product shipment.
    • Determine and ensure the quality of incoming and outgoing materials as per the LTS internal standards. Verify product specifications such as chemical composition, size, purity, manufacturing process, etc., following established Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Record and report all relevant quality control (QC) documentation for internal reference, compliance manuals, quality records, traceability, and auditing purposes.
    • Identify and suggest optimal production solutions based on R&D requirements. Collaborate with manufacturing team to explore viable production methods for new chemicals based on their industrial applications.
    • Provide advanced technical expertise to design and develop new materials. Synthesize materials in non-traditional sizes, formulations, and purity profiles for exact specifications. Determine boundaries in the development and implementation of high-purity optical coating materials. Document all phases of research and development.
    • Communicate and discuss with production sites to modify existing production methods and introduce new methods for improvement in product quality and performance.
    • Follow up regularly with production site to ensure timely workflow and product delivery to customers.
    • Perform sputtering target bonding and other final machining procedures prior to shipping and delivery to the customers.
    • Prepare documentation for all experiments performed. Update and maintain these documents using financial and inventory management software for internal records, quality assurance and future R&D.
    • Assist in laboratory-level processes for small-scale production using electrical furnace, ball milling etc. Troubleshoot and monitor performance of on-site equipment. Assist in developing process to evaluate precision and accuracy of analytical equipment, tests and measurements.
    • Complete and publish novel LTS production processes. Prepare and publish review cutting edge material research and processes stemming from incoming projects.
    • Minimum level of education: Masters Degree in Materials Science and Engineering required.

  • Chemical Engineer
    • Description: Details of position are dependent on experience. Researching new and existing solid chemicals for viable production criteria, various testing of materials for particle size, purity, electromagnetic properties, XRD analysis. Experienced candidates will work with disparate production facilities to develop operating procedures for the manufacture of materials in both large and small production runs.
    • Experience: BS or Higher in chemical engineering, chemistry, or related fields. New Grads welcome, further experience is a plus.
    • Qualities: Quick learner, able to work independently sometimes without direction, also able to work well with others.

  • Shipping Coordinator
    • Description: Handles incoming/outgoing shipment of chemicals to customers in many countries across the world. Will need to comply with DOT/IATA regulations. Interacts with customers on a limited basis. Harmonizes inventory.
    • Experience: College degree. New Grads welcome, further experience is a plus.
